the heart of the matter:

Dark Matter Astrology was born from my deep appreciation for what’s often unseen or unacknowledged in the human experience—trauma, pain, longing, passion, resilience, and even what others might call lunacy. For those who resonate with astrology, I recognize the therapeutic significance of immersing yourself deeply into the ancient history of human experience —a history that dares to acknowledge intimate and irrefutable parts of being human the way astrology does. I know from personal experience that astrology can help us reclaim the parts of ourselves we were taught to silence—but that have always been there. The very parts that can lead us to feel our most glorified within our energy, the most healthy within our bodies, and the most whole. Somehow, it does this without asking us to block out any part of our histories. Instead, it helps us bring laser focus to who we are—with full attention to our experience and unwavering interest in the truth of our being—clearing a path toward self-acceptance, self-love, and self-actualization.

This isn’t about being told who you are.
It’s about remembering for yourself—and becoming deeply curious and open to who that is, even when what we find feels impossible, overwhelming, or frightening. Repression—whether psychological, emotional, or energetic—is often at the root of chronic fear, pain, and unhappiness. In order to thrive, we must begin with connection: to ourselves, first of all.

Alongside my study of astrology, I hold a deep love for physics and astronomy—the structure beneath the mystery, the math beneath the magic of our world. I, like many physicists and astronomers, believe we are shaped by patterns and frameworks we don’t yet fully understand.

Our connection to the stars has been, arguably, one of the most significant stepping stones in the evolution of human consciousness. As we began using the stars as a map and began to understand our place within the solar system, our awareness expanded. We didn’t change our origins—but we deepened our understanding of ourselves, our planet, patterns, and our place in a much larger, unfolding reality.

It even seems, structurally, that our very minds reflect patterns found in the universe—our neuronal networks resembling the vast, web-like structures seen in the cosmos. To me, the stars, our neuropsychological and evolutionary connection to them as humans, the history of humanity,  and even our own psychologies, intuitions and relationships are not separate from science at all—they are all part of the same puzzle. And yet, we are often quick to dismiss our own experiences—especially under the weight of societal or socioeconomic pressure.

Despite widespread skepticism, astrology holds psychological significance akin to the philosophical role astronomy plays in physics. Scientists study the universe without claiming to define it fully—acknowledging dark matter, ambiguity, and unseen forces. Likewise, astrology acknowledges patterns we live and feel, even if we can’t yet measure them.

Astrology offers a symbolic language through which people can explore their identity, life experiences, and inner conflicts. By interpreting their birth charts, individuals often find a framework for self-reflection and personal narrative—a way to organize who they are and where they’ve been. This can offer insight, validation, and even relief.

It provides a mirror for self-understanding, helping to uncover strengths, wounds, archetypal patterns, and life themes. For many, it bridges gaps where traditional psychological language may feel too clinical, impersonal, or inaccessible. And in my experience, astrology places the focus on an individual in such a deeply intimate and profound way—allowing for genuine autonomy and the potential for self-actualization and self-defined success. It does this in ways that traditional therapeutic relationships and talk therapy often struggle to achieve, especially when constrained by social, economic, or institutional pressures.

We don’t yet have a complete understanding of reality, consciousness, or the universe.
No scientist can claim absolute certainty about the fundamental nature of anything.

All we truly have are our experiences and our connections—and they matter.
That is the heart of Dark Matter Astrology.

About the Astrologer

My name is Izzie, and I’m the creator of Dark Matter Astrology—a space shaped by my lifelong passion for understanding what lies beneath the surface of things, and for the innate connection between all things—seen and unseen.
I’m a trauma-informed mental health professional with a Bachelor of Science in Applied Psychology, and years of experience as a peer support advocate, crisis counselor, and group therapy lead under the supervision of a licensed mental health counselor.
I am also an intuitive with nearly a decade of astrological study, and someone who grew up stargazing under wide desert skies.
My love of the stars began with astronomy and evolved over time to include a deep fascination and appreciation for the symbolic, psychological, and historical richness of astrology.
I don’t treat astrology as a tool for prediction or perfection.
I treat it as a language for self-reclamation.
My work is grounded in the belief that we don’t need to be told who we are—we need to remember who we’ve always been. I blend the intuitive with the intellectual: the deep symbolism of the natal chart and how an individual identifies within those structures, combined with insights from a trauma-informed psychological perspective.
I believe that healing begins with connection and curiosity—toward our past, our patterns,  our relationships to others, the world around us, and most unarguably, ourselves.
My role as an astrologer isn’t to hand you answers about what will happen in your future. It’s to serve as a curious, reflective mirror—offering deep natal chart analysis as you rediscover your truth, in your own time, and in your own language.

A wonderful serenity has taken possession of my entire soul, like these sweet mornings of spring which I enjoy with my whole heart. I am alone, and feel the charm of existence in this spot, which was created for the bliss of souls like mine.

The thompson Family

I never was a greater artist than now. When, while the lovely valley teems with vapour around me, and the meridian sun strikes the upper surface of the impenetrable foliage of my trees, and but a few stray gleams steal into the inner sanctuary, I throw myself down among the tall grass by the trickling stream; and, as I lie close to the earth
